weighing six and a half tons,

with an estimated value of $117 million

Recently, U.S. Customs and Border Protection made a historic methamphetamine seizure at the Camino Real International Bridge in Eagle Pass, Texas.

According to a statement from CBP, officers intercepted six and a half tons of methamphetamine, valued at over $117 million, marking the largest seizure ever at a port of entry in a single enforcement action.

The seizure took place on Sunday, February 18th, when a CBP officer referred a tractor-trailer, which was supposed to be carrying drying agent for piglets, for secondary inspection. Upon examination using canine units and non-intrusive inspection systems, CBP officers discovered approximately 13,101 pounds of alleged methamphetamine concealed within the vehicle.

Director of Field Operations Donald Kusser from the Laredo Field Office stated, “This massive methamphetamine seizure, the largest ever conducted by CBP officers at a port of entry, underscores the significant narcotics threat our officers confront daily and their adeptness in utilizing our technological enforcement tools, expertise, and experience to identify and combat these threats. This seizure demonstrates our officers’ unwavering dedication to advancing CBP’s primary border security mission while facilitating legal trade and travel.”

CBP confiscated the narcotics, and Homeland Security Investigations special agents are conducting an investigation into the seizure.
