CVSA’s International Roadcheck: May 14-16, 2024
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck, slated for May 14-16, is a high-profile event spanning Canada, Mexico, and the United States. This intensive initiative involves rigorous inspections and enforcement activities aimed at ensuring commercial motor vehicle safety and regulatory compliance.
CVSA-certified law enforcement personnel will conduct thorough inspections of commercial motor vehicles and drivers at various locations, including weigh/inspection stations, temporary sites, and through mobile patrols. Their mission is to verify adherence to federal, state, provincial, or territorial regulations.
In the previous year, U.S. inspectors administered a staggering 53,847 Level I, II, and III Inspections during the International Roadcheck period. Results revealed 15,932 vehicle, 5,020 driver, and 205 hazardous material out-of-service violations, underscoring the critical importance of this annual event in maintaining safety standards.
Each year, International Roadcheck highlights specific violation categories. For the upcoming event, the focus areas will be tractor protection systems and alcohol and controlled substance possession. With heightened attention on these crucial aspects, the 2024 International Roadcheck aims to enhance safety across commercial vehicle operations.
